Desert Sunrise: The Earliest Adventure in Hurghada

4 min·17 August 2026

The alarm goes off at 4 am. Outside it is still dark and cool. And then — after a short drive through the sleeping desert — something happens that many guests describe as the most beautiful experience of their holiday.

**What happens at desert sunrise?** In the last few minutes before sunrise, the light in the desert changes dramatically: from the deep blue of night through cool grey to the first gold and orange tones on the horizon. The dunes cast long, soft shadows. The air smells of cool and silence.

Then the sun comes. And with it — warmth, colour and a brightness that feels different in the desert than anywhere else.

**Why desert beats beach?** At the beach, the sunrise is beautiful. In the desert it is monumental. No buildings, no trees, no power lines — just sand, sky and light. The horizon is absolutely clear.

**How cold is it in the morning?** In winter (December–February): 10–15°C — a jacket is important. In summer: pleasant 22–25°C, even a relief compared to the hot day.

**What happens after sunrise?** Our sunrise safari begins with a transfer, leads to the dunes, stops at a viewpoint for sunrise, and ends with a small Bedouin breakfast at camp: tea, flatbread, honey, cheese. Return to hotel by around 9 am — the rest of the day is yours.

**Our tip** Bring a camera and tripod — the photos at desert sunrise are the best of the holiday. Guaranteed.
