One of the most common questions before booking a safari: "What should I choose — quad, buggy or camel?" All three are great, but they suit different people.
Quad bike: freedom and control
*The experience:* You ride alone, set your own pace (within the guided tour), feel the sand under the wheels. Real adrenaline factor.
*Requirements:* Minimum age 16 as driver, 12 as passenger. No driving licence needed. A short briefing is all that's required.
*Best for:* Adventurous people who want to steer actively. Solo travellers, groups of friends.
*Weakness:* Can become unpleasant when dust kicks up heavily. Little room for luggage or a camera.
Buggy: adrenaline for two
*The experience:* Wider, more stable, faster than the quad. Two people sit side by side — ideal for couples. More control at higher speeds.
*Requirements:* Minimum age 16 as driver. No age restriction for passengers.
*Best for:* Couples who want to ride together. People looking for maximum speed.
*Weakness:* Less manoeuvrability than a quad, needs more space on narrow tracks.
Camel: tradition and silence
*The experience:* Slow, swaying, dignified. You are part of the desert — not racing through it. Ideal for photos and for anyone who truly wants to feel the desert.
*Requirements:* None. Possible from age 3 with a parent.
*Best for:* Families, older travellers, photographers, romantics.
*Weakness:* No adrenaline. Back and thighs can ache after longer rides.
**Our recommendation compass** Adrenaline → Buggy. Sense of freedom → Quad. Experience & photos → Camel. Complete experience → combine all three (our combo package).
