Egypt is not a difficult travel destination — but there are a few things you really should have with you.
**Clothing** Light tops (cotton/linen), shorts for the beach, long trousers for temples, several swimsuits, light windbreaker for A/C buses, comfortable walking shoes, flip-flops, head covering.
**Health and hygiene** Sunscreen SPF 50+ (expensive locally), reef-safe sunscreen for snorkelling, travel first-aid kit (anti-diarrhoea tablets, painkillers, plasters), magnesium tablets, hand sanitiser.
**Documents and money** Passport (valid at least 6 months), visa (online or on arrival, approx. USD 25), travel insurance, cash in euros or USD, credit card as backup.
**Other essentials** Reusable water bottle (no tap water!), underwater camera, power bank, small day pack.
