**The journey** Around 460 km from Hurghada — about 4.5 hours' drive. Departure between 4 and 5 am. Return late in the evening.
What you'll see
*Pyramids of Giza* The only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing. The Great Pyramid up close is overwhelming — in person they are gigantic.
*Sphinx* Right next to the pyramids — stand before the Sphinx and look it in the eye.
*Egyptian Museum (optional)* With the treasures of Tutankhamun. If you have time, go in.
*Khan el-Khalili Bazaar* Cairo's famous spice bazaar. Traders, aromas, narrow alleyways, tea in a 14th-century café. Tip: never pay the first price.
**Tips** Comfortable shoes, watch for pickpockets, bring water, don't forget your camera.
